Change

Seasons changing
all around me.
Fooled me again.
Two years in a

row. Up early
for a long run
when I heard the
pitter patter

of a steady
morning shower.
But it can’t be.
Unexpected.

No other signs
beyond the sound.
I actually
took off my gloves

and lifted my
hands skyward just
to test what I
thought I heard.

When suddenly
I remembered:
It is the leaves
falling like rain.

It’s magical.
I closed my eyes
and soaked in the
soft melody.

You should go to
the Grand Canyon.
And Yellowstone.
And all of the

national parks.
But I tell you,
in my journeys,
there’s nothing like

listening to
leaves fall like rain.
The seasons change:
Election night.

Revolutions.
Relocations.
Milestone birthdays.
Doctor visits.

Loved ones passing.
The Byrds sang there
is a season
that turns, turns, turns.

That season is
happening now.
Today, I am
celebrating

changing seasons.
May our world be
better than it
has been lately.

I close my eyes
and listen to
the leaves falling
all around me.

Extraordinary! Lovely words! My favorite time of year! Leaves singing as they dance their way down down the windy spiral touching the ground in playful laughter / they caught you up in their happiness. How wonderful! Change is in the air and yes it will be new life rising in us all. Hibernate with new thoughts and visions of what will be – new life in democracy. Only love is real and the leaves understand there is a season for those who have ears to hear and eyes to see. Wishing you joy and peace, my friend! Keep writing!!!!
